INVITACIÓN ESPECIAL A LA SESIÓN PANLAR
4M048 ACR: PANLAR:
Highlighting 75 Years of Contributions to Global Rheumatology
About
Session Overview:
“Rheumatologists form a fraternity, we are brothers joined by science and heart,” wrote Dr. Ruiz Moreno, founder of the Argentine League Against Rheumatism, in a 1942 letter to Ralph Pemberton, then president of ILAR. After two years of discussions and study by the American Rheumatism Association Committee (now the American College of Rheumatology), the League was approved. In 1944 PANLAR was born and served as the first and oldest of the Regional Leagues of ILAR, followed subsequently by EULAR in 1947, APLAR in 1963, and AFLAR in 1990. This session will review key contributions of the League and its members, highlighting the global impact on the rheumatology community over the last 75 years.
Learning Objectives:
- Review highlights and contributions of the PANLAR League and its members over the last 75 years
- Highlight PANLAR's major developments in basic science, clinical science, and study groups stemming from contributions from all regions of the Americas (North, Central, Bolivarian, and Southern Cone)
