It would seem logical that a conference held in Latin America could guarantee mass participation by solely including local figures. However, this was not the case in Panama, whose total number of associated rheumatology specialists is 14.

After 24 months of working alongside a solid entity such as PANLAR, a unified and focused team represented by the Panamanian Rheumatology Association and the technical operations arm provided by CONGREX, the results of such teamwork were to be seen.

CONGREX supported promotion and advertising efforts in 4 continents, coordinated 36 service providers, received 39 countries, led a production team of over 250 workers, registered 1350 participants, sold close to 3000 hotel nights and replied to over 4000 e-mails; all of which seem ordinary for a conference organizer. However, generating an unforgettable and enjoyable experience was extraordinary and gratifying for our clients/participants, as well as establishing a strong and lasting relationship, as well as contributing to a country’s pride.
Satisfaction surveys on the 2016 PANLAR Conference (324 respondents) yield valuable information: 96% of participants would return to a PANLAR Conference. Panamá was considered by 90% of respondents as a high connectivity, hospitality and infrastructure destination. The scientific program was defined as inclusive, diverse, innovative and timely to the specialty’s realities and, finally, the Conference’s financial results successfully reached proposed goals. Surveys reflect the result of the analysis, dedication, effort and teamwork put forth by all those deeply committed to PANLAR.

CONGREX is strengthened as organizer of world-class events such as the PANLAR Conference and, in the meantime, embarks on an even bigger project as is managing associations. Providing technical, secretary, financial and strategic support to PANLAR will be one of our biggest challenges and satisfactions as provider of services. We expect change, innovation, transparency, knowledge development and entrepreneurship to constitute our goals in this new stage.
